Dev Team has just released the updated ultrasn0w 1.2.4 which is now compatible for the iOS 5. This update doens’t add support to any new basebands, so you need to preserve your baseband when updating to ioS 5. What basebands are supported with Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 ?
The supported basebands for the iPhone 3G and 3GS are 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, and 06.15.00. The baseband supported for the iPhone4 is 01.59.00.
The first thing you should do is Install iOS 5 on your device preserving your basenad [VERY IMPORTANT] and jailbreak iOS 5, So to get both jailbroken [tethered ] and the baseband preserved, head over to this page and follow the instructions carefully up to the Step 7.

Note: there’s a special “trick” that iPhone3GS owners with baseband 06.15 need for iOS5. During the new setup screens you see when you start iOS5 for the first time, you’ll be asked about Location Services. Be sure to select “Disable Location Services” when asked! Later on in the setup, you’ll have the chance to turn on Location Services again when asked if you want to use “Find my iPhone”. It’s fine to turn it back on at that point, if that’s your desire (or you can always go in and enable it in Settings.app).
Now let’s start with the unlocking process with ultrasn0w 1.2.4.
Step 1: Once you are done with the jailbreak, you can now unlock your iPhone if you carefully preserved the baseband using Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 from Cydia. To do this:
- Start “Cydia” on your iPhone.
- Touch on “Manage” tab on the bottom.
- Now touch on “Sources” as seen in the screenshot below:
STEP 2:Touch on “Edit” and then on “Add”. You will be prompted to enter a url source as seen in the screenshot below. Type “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” and touch on“Add Source” to add this repo if you haven’t already.
Cydia will now automatically update your sources by following a series of automated steps.
Step 3: After installation is completed. Search for “ ultrasn0w 1.2.4 ” in Cydia and install. This will automatically unlock your iPhone so that you can use it with any carrier.
