iPhone Sales Quadruple in India During Last 4 Months

by on February 8, 2013

Apple clearly seems looking to enter the emerging markets like China and indeed India, because of the huge consumer pool.

With strategies like adopting the Indian rupee in the App Store, including local musicians in iTunes, and also due to the “extensive advertising and marketing campaign”  the Cupertino company has seen a 400 percent increase in sales of iPhones in four months…

However, Apple still have to face the fact ,as only ten percent of India’s residents own a smartphone and rival Samsung is the clear leader, researchers say.

This was Tim Cook’s stance on India last summer.

Also we made sure to ask some of our readers from India on their views about the iPhone sales in that part of the world. Below are their thoughts…

  • “iphones have a great demand in India. The reason why their sales lack is the late availibilty. Samsung’s flagship phones arrive much earlier. And the other being that they are availble only at selected authorised reseller’s shop. Where as samsung phones are sold by every local mobile shop”
  • “If we get the iPhone price as sold in USA, people will be in line to buy the iPhones. I will stand first.”
